BIRD CONTROL
Apex utilizes an array of techniques to safely and effectively rid your home or business of problematic birds such as pigeons, woodpeckers, starlings and sparrows to name a few. These techniques include Nixalite ® strips, bird netting, and repellents to name a few.

To control and repel pest birds or climbing animals on nearly any surface or structure on a permanent basis, we install the Nixalite ® strips. These spring tempered, stainless steel wire strips form an impenetrable barrier that keeps birds and climbing animals from roosting or landing on their favorite spots, thereby looking to roost elsewhere. We love installing this product because it provides a professional look, causes no harm to birds or animals, and is environmentally safe.

When there is a larger cubic foot area to cover or where other methods of bird control would be impractical or impossible, we will install the bird netting. This strong, lightweight netting is made of UV stabilized polypropylene, making it tough and durable, yet not easily viewable from a distance. It can be installed, on, over, or around a list of openings, objects, and structures.

For a temporary solution, Apex can apply a clear, gel-like material to an area where birds like to land. When the birds land on it, they will dislike how sticky it is and will avoid the treated areas. It also has an active ingredient that will feel hot to their feet. Where birds are pecking or hitting a window, Apex can install a “scare eye” which will chase birds away from the area.

BAT CONTROL
Even though bats have long been known to be beneficial creatures due to their craving for insects, they become a problem when they invade the attics, soffits, gables, vents, and chimneys of your homes. Apex utilizes an array of techniques to safely and effectively rid your home or business when this problem occurs.

The key to effective control is to determine the bat’s entry/exit points on the home. By watching your home at dusk, it will be possible to see exactly where the bats are coming out. During the day, you can look for bat droppings or oily smears on the siding as these are evidence that a bat nesting site is near. Keep in mind that a bat may only need a crack the size of your thumb to squeeze through. Once this spot is located, Apex will install one way netting to allow the bats to escape at night, but not be able to re-enter the premises. Once we are sure the bats have stopped frequenting their old nesting grounds, we will permanently seal the entrance holes so no future problems will arise. The best time to perform exclusion work is before May 15 or after Aug 15. During May 15 through Aug 15, young bats that are not able to fly will be trapped inside and eventually starve. This in turn will cause further insect/odor problems to contend with.

If bats have been frequenting your home for quite some time, you will also want the buildup of bat guano (droppings) immediately removed. This is best left to a professional, as microorganisms such as histoplasmosis (which lead to respiratory ailments) can present an extreme hazard to homeowners. Not only should the droppings be removed, but the infected areas disinfected. This will kill off various virus and bacteria as well as remove some of the smell.
